The students keep organizing various cultural events like Fashion Shows, Musical Nights, Plays and various Competitions from time to time.

PEDAGOGY

At I.B.M. we envisage the management education to be holistic in nature. We believe that the objective of management education should not be merely restricted to the enhancement of theoretical knowledge, but should encompass an overall personality development programme to transform students into responsible citizens of the corporate world.

Therefore beyond the traditional training methods, we explore the endless possibilities of innovative pedagogy which include case studies, role plays, group activities, business games, quizzes etc. From time to time distinguished personalities are invited from the industry as well as the academics to interact and share their experience and knowledge with the aspiring management students at I.B.M.
New faculty members quickly learn that at this Institute, teaching is what matters, and it is important for them to communicate the experience in their fields effectively in classrooms. While the faculty is strongly oriented towards the practical and applied aspects of management, it is also committed to basic research, much of which is carried out through the faculty members themselves and the students. The teachers bring the latest management concepts to the classrooms. The faculty emphasises learning through experience, as well as through theoretical knowledge. Teaching methods include case study, seminars, field study, simulations and independent work. Faculty members choose the methodology most appropriate to the material and their individual styles. An important aspect of the Institute culture is group study. Whenever possible, problems are assigned to groups of students rather than to individuals, thus giving them an experience of working in a team. Field research assignments take students in and around Kanpur giving them the opportunity to apply classroom theories and to gain first hand knowledge. The Institute's close ties and continued interaction with the business community balances the academic with the pragmatic. They business experts serve as guest lecturers, as experts for programmes that supplement class work, or as participants in conferences/seminars sponsored by the Institute.
